Artist's Comments

I'm still polishing up this image, but it's good enough for now for low-res viewing. I like using the frame (obviously) - it gives images an almost comical look, in my mind.

WOW! That's really cool! I would love to know what you did to achieve this! Was it multiple images? Or did you just PS it to death? Anyway, great work again! WOW.

Good job, I like how you did this. How'd you do it?

I dunno, multi-exposures...or PS work?

Let me know! :-)

For the two of you that asked, yes, it's multiple exposures, but with quite a bit of PS work afterwards. I took one shot with the model standing there holding the frame and wearing the tie, then took another exposure without changing the focus or exposure, but without the model (so all I got was the back wall). Then I combined the two in Photoshop, used paths to take the sections out that I didn't want. To create the shadow (there was a real shadow originally), I created a new shape that outlined the model and made a drop shadow of that. Then I tweaked the new drop shadow until it lined up and matched the colors of the original shadow. Then I got rid of the original drop shadow. So all the shadow you see there is artificial. Trust me, it's easier than it sounds.

Cool idea. I like how it turned out. Nice work!

I love the shot, great idea to work with. And executed well throughout.

PS: How do you like the 10D?

I love the 10D like my only child. It's very crisp and the meter's fairly good (plus with the instant preview, you can keep changing the exposure until you get it just right). The only thing I don't like is that the sensor is smaller than the normal 35mm frame, so your focal length is multiplied by 1.6 times. I love wide angle (I use a 17mm a lot when I'm shooting film), so I had to buy a 15mm lens just to get a somewhat decent wide angle effect on the 10D. I'd love to get a 1DS (full-frame sensor, so now focal length multiplication), but I don't have $8k sitting around. Thanks for the comment.

I've had a chance to play with the 1Ds, but same issue as you: $me < $camera. And I love the camera and the files it creates. So I wanted to check out it's little brother. Have you compared it to the Fuji S2?
